Shabbat Shalom
Lots of RL activity going on in my temple this month, so I'm not sure how much I'll be able to do in SL. We did have a small crowd at 7am SLT today, and we were rocking in spite of the hour. Next week and the week after I still don't know about, but I will probably be able to play on the Friday after Thanksgiving (Nov 23). I'll try to keep the schedule above updated.
Shabbat Shalom everyone,

RL intervenes
Real life has been intervening lately. This Friday I have appointments that I can't change. If I can possibly play the 3pm I will, but I can't commit to it just yet.
I miss doing the Shabbat Around the World and hope to be back to it on August 3. Hope to see you then.

Such wonderful gatherings
It is really wonderful to have the gatherings we have in SL for the Shabbat Candle lightings. It's turning into a real community. We have our regulars every week, our semi-regulars, visitors, and newcomers. All are welcome. And it is a pleasure to make music to add to the event.
See you all next week.

Thanks for the fun!
Another successful Shabbat Candle lighting. I really have fun. You guys always find some way to crack me up lately. Today it was someone (DannyJ?) dressed as a Kool-Aid punch pitcher. Watching that avatar's little red arms type was hysterical.
Glad to have been there. Shabbat Shalom, everyone.

Thanks!
Thanks so much to everyone who donated last week - I really appreciate it. I'm am touched by your generosity. It was so much fun playing with Janet. I think I'll be able to get her to come back every now and then.
I've been busy practicing for the DHCA concert Thursday. Planning to do regular folkie stuff by David Wilcox, Cheryl Wheeler, Christine Lavin, and others. Hope to see you there.

Don't miss this Friday!
Hi Everyone,
I'm having a special guest play with me this Friday, and I'm very excited about it. Janet is a wonderful musician, singer, keyboardist, choir director, organist, and person. Please come hear us this Friday at 10am SLT at the Second Life Synagogue in Nessus. Here's the group announcement that went out today:

Join our very own CC Lane with her special guest Janet for a wonderful variety of live Jewish music this Friday at the 10 am SLT Shabbat Around the World candle lighting. CC will bring her guitar, as usual, and Janet will be on keyboard and vocals. If you thought our Shabbat celebrations were good before, you definitely won't want to miss this one!
See you then!

Great crowd today
Hi Everyone,
There was a wonderful turn out today at the 7am SLT Shabbat Around the World candle lighting. Thanks so much for coming. It was a lot of fun, and great seeing all your avatars dancing. It is really turning into a wonderful community, and I'm glad to be a part of it.
Looking forward to seeing you all next week.

Can't play this week
Hi All,
Sorry to report that I can't play the candle lightings this week. I have more dental work tomorrow as well as a meeting and they both coincide with the normal candle lighting times.
If possible, I may try to do an impromptu concert at the ark sometime Saturday afternoon.
Don't forget to check out some of the recordings below. They're fun and they were mostly done in one take. I think I have to redo a few of them :-)

Recordings
Hi Everyone,
Updated March 2009
Fixed broken links to the recordings.
Updated April 2008
I got some new equipment, and now my recordings and performances won't sound like their coming from inside a tin can. The first song I've re-recorded is Or Zarua below. I think you'll hear the difference between that and the other songs :)

Previously I wrote:
I've finally recorded some of the Shabbat songs I've been doing at the Shabbat Around the World candle lightings. I've also recorded some of the songs I'd like to do but can't, since they involve more than one voice. Ah, the miracles of multi-tracking.
These are not professional recordings, just some stuff I played into the computer (Macbook Pro running GarageBand, built in mike). So, not the highest fidelity, but it's the same way I play music into Second Life. Hope you enjoy it.
I'll be playing the 7am and 10am Shabbat Around the World candle lightings in Second Life tomorrow. See you there.

Apologies!
I'm so sorry I had to cancel at the last minute today. My tooth started hurting late last night, and well, you know. I didn't want to spend a miserable weekend suffering, though that may happen anyway, according to the dentist. She told me it would be sore for a few days. If I can speak properly and I'm not in pain, I'll sing at the 3pm lighting today.
Hope I see you all then. Still VERY numb as I type this, 11:30am SL time.

Still working out schedule for this week
Hi Folks,
I'm still working out my schedule for Friday and I don't know yet which Shabbat around the World candle lightings I can play at... probably the 3pm one is a definite, and I'll post again when I know if there are others.
Getting ready to move in RL - so that takes up a bit of time that I might otherwise spend playing.
See you online!

Off to a good start
During CC's first Candle Lighting, on April 13, 2007, group member Glenn Davids posted the following while CC was still playing:
The week of April 20, 2007, Beth Odets posted the following in a Shabbat Notice for the Second Life Synagogue group:
Hey Gang! We're doing our candle lightings as usual but this time with a
twist. Cantcomp Lane is performing live Shabbat music for us. It's the
3pm lighting but there's still time to make it. We'll be lighting at
about 25 after.
Grab yourself and your speakers and come on down. You won't regret it.
The week of April 20, 2007, Beth Odets posted the following in a Shabbat Notice for the Second Life Synagogue group:
It is a joy and honor to let you all know that Cantcomp Lane (CC)

Last week she filled our SL experience with live music that was AMAZING.
She really brings it all to life!!!
